Amihan Jennifer Matias, Founder
Building Community and Strengthening Leaders
I am a passionate social justice activist, community builder, and leader who is deeply committed to creating a more just, compassionate, and equitable world.
I am a racial equity and organization development consultant and trainer and leadership coach with over 30 years of experience working with social justice and social change organizations, and over 25 years of nonprofit management experience. I have developed several cutting edge and nationally recognized executive leadership development programs. These have included a nonprofit executive coaching program supporting Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) leaders serving communities of color, a nonprofit management training institute, and a six-month leadership forum for womxn of color leaders called "And Still We Rise."

I have a long history of community activism. I am a founder of the Massachusetts Asian and Pacific Islanders (MAP) For Health and the AAPI Alliance of Western MA. I have served on the board of directors of the Asian American Resource Workshop (AARW) and the steering committee of the Asian and Pacific Islander Women's Social Justice Project. I led the founding of the Jasmine Asian Women's Giving Circle in collaboration with the Boston Women's Fund and the Haymarket People’s Fund.
I was involved in the planning and coordination of the Welcoming Massachusetts Campaign of the Massachusetts Refugee and Immigrant Advocacy (MIRA) Coalition, an immigrant rights initiative to welcome and facilitate the positive integration of immigrants and refugees into their Massachusetts communities. I am also a founding board member of the Sojourner Truth School for Social Change Leadership.

I have been trained as a co-active coach through the Coaches Training Institute (CTI), a program accredited by the International Coach Federation. I am a racial equity and cultural humility consultant and trainer with a background in Equity Institute and Empowering Multicultural Initiatives training models. I have studied intercultural communication and mediation at Lesley University. I am also certified as a trained mediator in the state of MA. I have a degree in social work from Salem State University and I am a graduate of the Institute for Nonprofit Management and Leadership at Boston University School of Management.
